Football Dominates in Senior Day Victory over Stonehill

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University football defeated Stonehill 34-0 on senior day to earn its first conference victory.
 
What You Need to Know
» Nick Whitfield Jr. went 9-of-17 for 168 yards and two touchdowns.
» DeMarcus McElroy had 19 carries for 147 yards and one touchdown.
» Markel Holman added 15 rushes for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
» Gavin Thomson had four catches for 78 yards and Jahmil Perryman had three catches for 57 yards. Both players scored a touchdown.
» Geno Calgaro had a game-high 12 total tackles for 4.5 tackles for loss.
» Mercury Swaim had his first interception of the season.
» The Saint Francis defense held Stonehill to negative-four passing yards and 60 rushing yards.
 
Turning Points of the Game
After a scoreless first quarter, Saint Francis put together a 20-point second quarter that started with a 12-yard Holman touchdown run with 7:39 remaining. McElroy added to the lead with a 50-yard run and Holman capped off the first-half scoring with a five-yard run.
 
Another scoreless quarter followed out of the half before Perryman scored a 46-yard touchdown with under 14 minutes remaining in the game. Thomson capped off the scoring on a 14-yard touchdown for a 34-0 lead with 6:22 remaining.

The running game recorded 309 yards – Saint Francis' most since a 336-yard performance against Wagner on Oct. 17, 2015.  
 
Whitfield Jr. had the second two-touchdown performance of his career after he had two against Merrimack last season.
 
Calgaro is the second player with at least three tackles for loss this season joining Paul Tangelo. He has led Saint Francis in total tackles in three of the last four games.
