TURNING POINT
With a two-set advantage, Saint Francis continued to dominate in the third before claiming the straight-set win. A kill by
Maggie Hogan inched the Red Flash closer to match point at 23-14. Stonehill responded with its own kill, but Burns beat the block attempt to advance the score to 24-15. After a service error by Saint Francis, a Stonehill player served the ball long and out of bounds, giving the Red Flash the victory.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash took hold of the momentum from the beginning of the match. Up 21-15, a three-point run pushed the team further ahead before clinching the first set. Burns sent the ball of the top of the block to begin the run with back-to-back kills. A block by
Alexandra Sappia and
Drew Wallech prevented Stonehill from making a play, earning set point. A service error by the Red Flash kept the Skyhawks in the set, but Wallech's attack hit the blockers and fell outside, winning the set.
Saint Francis continued to dominate in the second set, up 16-9 before a five-point run more than doubled Stonehill's score. Through Stonehill's block attempt, Wallech began the run with a kill from the middle. A hard attack from Burns made the score 18-9 before McClure found a hole in Stonehill's side for a kill of her own. After an error by the Skyhawks, an ace by Sappia put the Red Flash ahead 21-9 before eventually taking a two-set lead.
FLASH NUGGETS
Wallech tallied four aces and seven total blocks to lead the Red Flash.
Sappia led the team in assists with 21.
Raegan Rosi recorded 12 digs to lead Saint Francis.
