Women's Volleyball to Compete in NEC Championship Tournament

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Women's volleyball is competing in the Northeast Conference Championship Tournament, hosted by Chicago State.

THE WORD ON FDU
FDU enters the tournament as the number two seed with a 21-8 overall and 11-3 conference record, defeating Stonehill in both matches in the final weekend of conference play.

Leaders include Avery Bain with 305 kills, Hannah Schmidt with 614 assists and 58 aces, Emily Van O'Linda with 440 digs and Kylie Nott with 88 blocks.

Angela Marchetto is the reigning NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week.

LAST TIME WE MET THE KNIGHTS
The Red Flash defeated the Knights in four sets in their last meeting, ending FDU's 13-match win streak.

In the win, Kori McClure led the team with 16 kills, including the match-winner. Alex Dever tallied three aces to lead the team's serving efforts. Drew Wallech recorded seven blocks. Alexandra Sappia earned 53 assists, a team-most. At libero, Raegan Rosi led Saint Francis in digs with 13.

Drew Wallech earned NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week and was joined by Kori McClure and Alexandra Sappia as Prime Performers.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Francis fell to Chicago State in five sets last Saturday, concluding the regular season.

Korrin Burns led the Red Flash with a season-high 27 kills. Raegan Rosi earned three aces. Kori McClure led blocking with three total blocks. A new career high, Alexandra Sappia was credited with 55 assists. Caitlin O'Brien recorded 11 digs.

Korrin Burns and Alexandra Sappia earned NEC Prime Performer.

ABOUT CHICAGO STATE AND LIU
Chicago State and LIU are the one and four seeds, respectively. The winner of their match will advance to the winner of FDU versus Saint Francis for the championship match.

The Cougars finished 13-1 in conference play, losing only to FDU. The Sharks were 10-4 this season, with the Red Flash having the tiebreaker for the third seed.

UP NEXT
With a win, the Red Flash will advance to the Championship match on November 23 at 6 p.m. CT/7 p.m. ET. The conference champion will advance to the NCAA Tournament.
