FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Saint Francis begins the Thanksgiving holiday and the start of Atlantic-10 week for the Red Flash, with the third meeting against Saint Joseph's dating back to the 2011-12 season. The Hawks won both games in the series in those two years.
• Saint Joseph's is one of three Atlantic-10 teams on the schedule over the next 23 days. The Red Flash will travel to Duquesne on Sunday and head to Rhode Island on December 20 to wrap up the non-conference slate. It is the first time since 1993-94 Saint Francis will play three Atlantic-10 opponents in the same year. That season, the Red Flash opened the season at home with Dayton, St. Bonaventure at home, and then traveled to Duquesne in the first week. The 1991-92 team opened the slate with UMass and George Mason in the Red Flash Classic and hosted Duquesne. The 1985-85 Flash also played three games against the Atlantic-10 but played a home-and-home with Duquesne and traveled to George Mason.
• It will be the fourth time Saint Francis will face consecutive Atlantic-10 opponents in program history. Along with opening the 1991-92 and 1993-94 seasons against the conference, the Red Flash faced Saint Joseph's and Duquesne back-to-back in 2012-13, just like the team is doing this season. That year, the Hawks came to Loretto, and then the Red Flash traveled to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne.
• The Loretto program is 6-52 all-time against the Atlantic-10 and 2-28 on the road. It will be the seventh time head coach Keila Whittington faces the league as a head coach. NOTE: Saint Francis has 10 wins against Duquesne, but the Red Flash was 6-4 against the Dukes from 1968-75 before they joined the Atlantic-10.
• The team is currently on a five-game road trip with three games in the Keystone State, one in Maryland and one in Delaware.
• This will be the 11th five-game road trip in program history and the 17th time the squad has been away from Loretto for more than five games at one time. The team had a six-game road trip in 2021-22 under head coach Keila Whittington.
• The team also went on a five-game road trip in 1976-77, 1985-86, 1988-89, 1989-90, 1991-92, 2004-05, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13. Along with the six gamer in 2021-22, the Flash went on a six-game trek in 2001-02, 2005-06, 2006-07, and 2016-17, while hitting the road for a program-record seven games in 1998-99.

AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be the team's first win against Saint Joseph's
• Be the team's second straight win in the state of Pennsylvania
• Be the team's first win against the Atlantic-10 since defeating Duquesne 68-54 in overtime on November 27, 2007
• Be head coach Keila Whittington's first win versus the Atlantic-10
• Help the team improve to 2-1 on the road trip

ABOUT THE HAWKS
•
Saint Joseph's comes into the contest 4-1 after falling 72-71 in overtime to Utah.
• Laura Ziegler paced the Hawks with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Gabby Casey registered 21 points and eight rebounds, while Talya Brugler also found double figures with 14 points against the Utes.
• Ziegler powers the Hawks and is averaging a double-double with 19.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Brugler is not far behind with 19.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, while Mackenzie Smith (13.8 ppg.) and Casey (13.0 ppg.) are also averaging double figures for Saint Joseph's.

LAST TIME WE MET

• Saint Joseph's defeated Saint Francis 61-44 on December 1, 2012 at DeGol Arena.
• Kelley Doogan paced the Red Flash with 11 points, and Alli Williams narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds.
• Chatil Van Grinsven tallied 18 points and 21 rebounds to power the Hawks. Natasha Cloud added 12 points and seven boards.

LAST TIME OUT

• Saint Francis lost 107-35 at No. 11 Maryland on Sunday afternoon in the first game between the two teams since the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
• Sophomore Yanessa Boyd, who played high school 11 miles from College Park, paced the Red Flash with 10 points.
• Junior Jade Campbell played her first game since the 2022 NEC Tournament against the Terrapins. She registered three points, three rebounds, and a steal in eight minutes.

TRENDING UP

• Freshman Airah Lavy averages 12.7 points per game during this three-game road trip. She is shooting 52.2 percent from the floor (12-for-23), 50.0 percent from behind the arc (10-for-20), and 100 percent from the free throw (4 of 4). Prior to the game at No. 11 Maryland, she was averaging 17.5 points per game in her last game and has posted the two highest scoring outputs this season with 19 points at Robert Morris on November 20 and 16 points against Loyola on November 17.  In those two games, Lavy is shooting 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from the floor, 69.2 percent (9-for-13) from behind the arc and 100 percent (4-for-4) from the free throw line. Not bad after shooting 14.3 percent (2-for-14) from the floor and 20.0 percent (2-for-10) in her first four college games, with seven points coming into the game against Loyola.
• Sophomore Yanessa Boyd notched her third 10+ point game of the season with her team-high 10 points at Maryland. She scored precisely 10 points in both games in her home state after scoring 10 points at Coppin State on November 10. She registered a season-high 12 points against Canisius at home on November 15. The sophomore captain has also hauled in at least four boards three times this season, including a season-high five caroms at Coppin State.
• Sophomore Marina Artero has already surpassed her season total in assists after seven games. The sophomore fuels the team with 23 assists after dishing out 18 helpers as a freshman. She has recorded multiple assists in six out of the seven games, with four helpers at Robert Morris on November 20, five at No. 11 Maryland on November 24, and a career-high six at Lafayette on November 9. Artero has become the Norm Van Lier of the women's team because she has also put up some great numbers on the glass. The sophomore has grabbed at least four boards four times this season with a season-high eight caroms against Robert Morris. NOTE: Van Lier is a Red Flash men's basketball legend who became the first player in NBA history to record a scoreless double-double.
• Junior Julianna Gibson matched her career-high 15 points against Robert Morris. The junior also had 15 points against Wagner on January 6. It was her fifth double-digit point game of her career and second on the road. The total against the Colonials is a new road career high for Gibson after she posted 14 points at UMBC on December 29, 2023. After posting 10 points in her first four games, the junior has recorded 23 points in the two games leading up to Maryland and is averaging 8.3 points per game in her last three games. Gibson scored the first basket in the game on Sunday to give the Red Flash a 2-0 lead.
