Women’s Basketball Falls on Senior Day to Stonehill

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's basketball concluded its home schedule for the 2023-24 season with a 66-56 loss to Stonehill. Saint Francis honored senior Kaitlyn Maxwell prior to tip-off.   
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Kendall Carruthers tied a game-high with 18 points and she converted seven field goals.
» Yanessa Boyd scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added five rebounds.
» Boyd, Carruthers and Kameryn Dorsey each had two steals.
» Marina Artero had a team-high nine rebounds and three blocks.
» Stonehill's Jada Thornton scored a game-high 18 points.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
Stonehill started the game with a 12-2 run in the first seven minutes of the quarter and took a 20-10 at the end of the frame. Saint Francis went on a modest 12-8 run in the second and cut the deficit to 28-22 with 4:10 remaining. Stonehill narrowly extended the lead to 35-27 at the half.
 
The Skyhawks came out of the half on an 11-8 run in the first five minutes and led 46-35. Saint Francis then got back within seven points, 50-43, with 3:21 remaining in the third before Stonehill scored six straight points and ended the quarter ahead 56-43. Stonehill led by at least 10 points for the entire fourth quarter before its 66-56 victory.

FLASH NUGGETS
Boyd scored double-digit points in back-to-back games for the third time this season and first time in conference play. She has eight double-digit scoring efforts this season.
 
Carruthers led Saint Francis in scoring for the sixth straight game and 13th times this season. She raised her season average to 14.1 points per game.
 
Artero set a career high with her three blocks and was the first Red Flash player with three in a game this season.
