Track and Field To Compete at River Hawk Friday Night Showdown

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
>>Saint Francis indoor track and field will travel to Susquehanna University to compete in the River Hawk Friday Night Showdown Friday, February 9. The meet will begin with the 5000m dash at 3 p.m.

>>40 athletes, 23 from the men's team and 17 from the women's team, are expected to participate at the meet.

>>It will be the second scored meet of the season. The Red Flash will be competing against Arcadia, Bloomsburg, Brockport State, Gettysburg, Lock Haven, Misericordia, Shippensburg, and Susquehanna.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Red Flash had one event victory, four top-10 all-time performances in program history, 12 top-five finishes, and 28 personal-best scores at the Liberty Open last weekend.

Marie-Therese Cooper came in first in the triple jump for the first time this season with a mark of 11.80m. She was named a Northeast Conference Prime Performer for her performance.

The best finish from the men's team came from Nickolas Hyde in the Section A shot put event, where he placed fourth with a throw of 16.41m. He has the two best throws in the event across the whole NEC this season, with his best mark of 16.83m coming at the Gulden Invitational. The graduate student earned NEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

There were two more performances that earned athletes prime performer recognition. Dustin Hyde came in seventh in the same event as Nickolas with a mark of 15.63m. David Niang came in fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.08.

RED FLASH AT RIVER HAWK FRIDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN HISTORY 
Saint Francis has competed in meets hosted by Susquehanna University the last nine seasons. Their last outing in 2023 saw the Red Flash take home five event victories. Some of the first place finishes came from Morgan McNaughton (3000m dash), Mariclare Anderson (800m dash), Monica Gregg (one mile), and the 4x400 relay team of Anderson, Gregg, Baylee Carpenter, and Emma Fleck.

Indoor Track and Field will compete at the NEC Championships Feb. 18-19 at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, NY.
