Men’s Volleyball Sits Atop NEC Standings After Series Sweep Over Daemen

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
>>Saint Francis University men's volleyball are now first in the Northeast Conference (NEC) standings with a perfect 6-0 record after another four set win on Saturday (25-20, 16-25, 27-25, 25-20).

>>For the second straight match, Andrew Deardorff and Nathan Zini led the way in kills with 12 and 11 respectively. The two also recorded six digs apiece.  

>>Peyton Blain racked up 15 digs to lead a Red Flash defense that held the Wildcats offense, who came into the weekend first in the NEC in hitting percentage, to just a .211.

TURNING POINT OF THE MATCH 
Saint Francis took set three to go up 2-1 in the match. Set four would prove to be a neck and neck battle throughout, with the score being tied seven different times. With the score tied at 18, the Red Flash erupted with a 7-2 run to take full control. Sam Lane put an exclamation point on it with a kill to give the team a 25-20 win. 

FLASH MOMENTS
The opening set started out close, with the two teams tied at 10. The Red Flash proceeded to take command, going on a 10-4 run to go up as big as 20-14. They'd carry that momentum through the end, and back-to-back kills from Zini helped give the team a 25-20 set win to go up 1-0.

Set two started out at a 5-5 tie, but Daemen went on a 10-5 run to take a 15-10 lead. Saint Francis scored two straight points, but the Wildcats held off the rally with another 10-4 run to tie the match at 1-1.

The third set saw Daemen get out to a 13-7 lead, forcing Saint Francis to call timeout. The Red Flash came out swinging afterwards, going on a 12-4 run to make it 19-17. The rest of the set proceeded to duke it out until the end, with the score at 25 apiece heading into the final serves. With a chance to take a 2-1 lead, Saint Francis scored two straight points to take the set, 27-25.

FLASH NUGGETS
Lane made an impact on offense and defense, tallying seven kills, a .545 hitting percentage, and four blocks.

Nicholas Lynch led the team in blocks again with five.

Ryan Parker contributed on the defensive end with seven digs and four blocks. Offensively, he added 31 assists and three kills.

UP NEXT
Men's Volleyball will remain at home for two matches against Merrimack Mar. 28-29. Both matches will be at 6 p.m.
