PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Saint Francis University softball took an 8-0 victory in six innings in its first midweek game of the season at Arkansas – Pine Bluff.

Rachel Marsden (6-4) went 5.2 innings and allowed no runs on one hit with no walks and nine strikeouts. She went 1-2 with two runs scored at the plate.

Hannah Bendle hit an inside-the-park home run and totaled two runs scored and three RBIs.

Kaylie Walters went 3-4 with two runs scored, one RBI, and one stolen base.

Ashley Orischak added two hit in the game.
TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
» After two scoreless innings, the Red Flash broke through with the first run after Wruble drove in Walters with an RBI single.
» Saint Francis added to the lead with three runs in the fourth inning. Bendle drove in Marsden to start the scoring, then Bendle scored on an Arkansas – Pine Bluff throwing error. Orischak capped off the fourth inning scoring on a double steal.
» Bendle hit a two-run inside-the-park home run in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 6-0.
» The Red Flash added to its sixth inning scoring behind an
Aliya Garroway pinch-hit RBI single and Walters scoring on a wild pitch to take an 8-0 lead.
» With Arkansas – Pine Bluff unable to score on Marsden and
Allie Braly in the sixth inning, Saint Francis earned its run-rule victory.

» Bendle hit her first collegiate home run and the first home run by a Red Flash freshman this season. Her home run was the fifth by a Saint Francis player this season
» Walters recorded the first three-hit game of her career and the sixth by a Saint Francis player this season.
