Water Polo Defeats Redlands in Dominating 16-7 Win

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>>The Red Flash defeated the Redlands Bulldogs with a commanding 16-7 score.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
Already up 14-4, Saint Francis just had to hold their significant lead through the remaining quarter. On a power play, Aubrey Miller (Mohnton, Pa.) scored early in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 11. Redlands was able to score three of their own to narrow the score to 15-7, but Lucy Willis (Ft. Thomas, Ky.) tallied the final goal of the game to lock up the Saint Francis win.

FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash came out swinging, scoring six goals in the first quarter. Emese Szucs (Budapest, Hungary) kicked off the scoring just 47 seconds into the game. With just over four minutes left in the quarter, Caylah Olay (Redondo Beach, Calif.) found the back of the net to make the score 2-1. Szucs was able to score again before Willis found the back of the net on a power play. Kayla Rhoads (Oceanside, Calif.) scored the final goal of the opening frame to give the Red Flash a 6-1 lead.

The scoring continued in the second quarter with Szucs scoring two more goals before Olay could tally her second of the night.

The Red Flash came out of halftime just as solid with three more unanswered goals at the beginning of the third quarter. Megan Marlin (Flower Mound, Texas) got the ball past the Bulldogs' goalie, giving the Red Flash a 10-3 lead. Szucs continued to be unstoppable, scoring her sixth and final goal of the game. Sarah Hartwell (Grand Blanc, Mich.) added a goal to the Saint Francis score with 3:50 left in the third quarter for a nine-goal lead at 12-3.


FLASH NUGGETS
Szucs lead the Red Flash in scoring with an impressive six goals. Next highest on the scoresheet was Olay with a hat trick of her own.

Hartwell tallied three assists on the night, the most for Saint Francis.

Miller, Szucs and Willis each recorded three steals.

Isabel Lumley (Brisbane, Australia) got credit for the win, making nine saves and picking up a steal. Grace Raquel (Naperville, Ill.) took over in net for the second half, tallying two saves and earning two steals.
