The Red Flash were unrelenting on offense throughout the game against Whittier, taking a 9-2 lead after the first half. Maintaining their lead,
Up 12-5 heading into the fourth quarter against La Verne, Saint Francis maintained their lead to lock up the win. The Leopards scored first in the fourth quarter with Sam Eschleman (Reading, Pa.) firing a shot into the net just 14 seconds later. La Verne attempted to narrow the Red Flash lead, but Emese Szucs (Budapest, Hungary) scored back-to-back goals for an eight-goal lead at 14-6 with 5:36 to go in the game. Eschleman picked up another goal before Lucy Willis (Ft. Thomas, Ky.) found the back of the net with just under three minutes to go. Scoring a hat trick in the fourth quarter alone, Eschleman tallied the final goal of the game to expand the lead to 11 goals.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash put up an impressive seven goals in the opening quarter against the Poets. Eschleman started the scoring just seven seconds into the game. Just over a minute later,
Caylah Olay (Redondo Beach, Calif.) tallied another goal for the Red Flash to take a 2-0 lead.
Sarah Hartwell (Grand Blanc, Mich.),
Kayla Rhoads (Oceanside, Pa.) and Szucs each scored before Whittier tallied their first goal with 3:21 remaining in the first. Olay scored another goal with Miller scoring the final goal of the opening frame for a 7-2 score.
Saint Francis continued to dominate on offense in the game against La Verne, scoring five goals in the first quarter. Olay found the back of the net first one minute and one second into the game. Georgia Ellison (Canberra, Australia) earned a goal of her own just 38 seconds later. The Leopards responded, but Olay notched her fifth tally of the night to give the Red Flash a 3-1 lead. Eschleman got the ball past La Verne to extend the Saint Francis score. With just under two minutes to go, Szucs tallied another goal to take a 5-1 lead heading into the second quarter.
FLASH NUGGETS
Olay led Saint Francis with three goals against the Poets. Szucs scored four goals in the win over La Verne. Eschleman and Olay were behind her with three goals in the second win of the day.
Rhoads earned two assists in the first win of the night. Megan Marlin (Flower Mound, Texas) recorded two over the Leopards to lead the team.
Hartwell had three steals against the Poets. Against La Verne, five different players each tallied one steal, including Ellison, Eschleman, Adi Garges (Perkasie, Pa.), Olay and Willis.
Grace Raquel (Naperville, Ill.) and Isabel Lumley (Brisbane, Australia) faced Whittier in net, each tallying four saves. Raquel was in net for the whole game against La Verne, recording six saves and an assist.
