Fast Start, Bella Fisher's 10 Points Not Enough For Saint Francis WLAX In NEC Quarterfinals

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Despite a fast start and Bella Fisher (Duxbury, Mass.) tying a single-game program record with 10 points, No. 5 Saint Francis falls 19-14 at No. 4 Stonehill in the inaugural Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Lacrosse Quarterfinals on Sunday.
> Fisher's performance was nothing short of exceptional. She posted six goals and a career-high four assists for a career-high 10 points, becoming the third player in program history to register 10 points in a game in Red Flash history. The sophomore also had seven draw controls and, with her first draw, became the seventh player in team history with 100 draw controls.
>> Lizzie Fisher (Hagerstown, Md.) and Victoria DiRenno (Suffern, N.Y.) added two goals, while Danielle Hernandez (New Fairfield, Conn.) tallied a goal and two assists.
>> The game marked Lizzie Fisher, Hernandez, Erika Ellison (Everett, Wash.), Holly Jones (Newark, Del.), and Tori Petrie's (Whitney Point, N.Y.) final match.
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Saint Francis jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first 10 minutes, but Stonehill went on a 10-1 run in the final 20 minutes of the first half to take the lead and never looked back to earn the win against the Red Flash for the second time in the last eight days and move onto the NEC Semifinals.

FLASH QUOTE
"Whenever the season ends with a loss, it's hard, especially today's loss because we got off to a hot start. I'm proud that we stayed in it to win and never gave up. It's just disappointing not to be competing for a championship. As the team would say, Bella Fisher was fire today. She played an amazing game and contributed all over the field. Bella played like a champion. It was an awesome performance." - head coach Tracy Coyne on the game

"We can't thank our seniors, Lizzie, Danielle, Erika Holly, and Tori, enough for all they have given to the lacrosse program. They are leaving the program better than they found it. That's their legacy: two consecutive winning seasons and two NEC tournament appearances. We truly appreciate how much the program has grown under their leadership and commitment. We will miss them next year." - Coyne on the seniors

FLASH MOMENTS
Bella Fisher helped Saint Francis get off to a fast start, scoring three of the first six goals and providing an assist.

Bella Fisher had a hand in the following four goals, twinkling the twine at 12:14, 8:45, and 7:01 in the first quarter while adding an assist to Hernandez at 7:59. DiRenno capped the 6-0 run with a tally at 5:17 in the first quarter.

FLASH NUGGETS
Bella Fisher recorded six goals for the first time this season and the third time in her career. The four assists surpass the three helpers she dished out at Rider on February 22, and the 10 points re-established her career-best in points for the second time in four days after her eight points against Howard on Wednesday. It is the third time a Red Flash player has posted 10 points in a match and the second-straight time with a player posting six goals and four assists after Autumn McHenry turned the trick against FDU on April 12, 2023. Danielle Conwell is the other player to have 10 points in a game after nine tallies and an assist against Binghamton on February 26, 2012. The four assists are the 11th most in a single game in team history and mark the 14th time a player has handed out at least four helpers.

On the career charts, Bella Fisher moved into 10th place in career points (117) and 10th place in career goals (90). She became the seventh player in team history with 100 draw controls and will head into her junior season in 2025 in seventh place with 106 draws.

Bella Fisher also made some movements on the single-season charts in team history. Her 69 points are the third most in single-season history, four from the single-season program record. The sophomore finished with a career-high 48 goals and 21 assists to sit fourth on the single-season goal list and seventh on the single-season assist list. In addition, her 67 draw controls are the fifth most in single-season team history.

Hernandez dished out 26 assists for the second straight year, one off the program record. Hernandez finished her illustrious career with 73 goals and 61 assists for 134 points and 80 draw controls. The 61 assists are third most in team history, and the 134 points are the eighth most in team history.

Like Hernandez in assists, sophomore Bella Burke (East Moriches, N.Y.) registered 26 caused turnovers in a season, the third-most in single-season history. The 52 caused turnovers in her career to sit fifth in program history.

Taylor Coughlin (Hespeler, Ontario) finished her first season as the team's starting goalkeeper with 160 saves, an 11.26 goals against average, and a .471 save percentage. The goals-against average ranks second in single-season history, and the saves and saves percentage are both tied for fifth in single-season history. Coughlin's 170 career saves are the eighth most on the career list.

Lizzie Fisher finishes her five seasons in Loretto with 72 goals, 22 assists, 94 points, 25 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and a draw control. Ellison appeared in 55 games with 33 starts, 41 ground balls, 24 caused turnovers, and four draw controls, while Jones had 47 games with 35 starts, 24 ground balls, and 12 caused turnovers in her four seasons in Loretto. Petrie appeared in 22 games with one start, five goals, three assists, eight points, eight ground balls, three caused turnovers, and a draw control in her four years.

Saint Francis wraps up its season 8-8 overall and 7-3 in NEC play. The seven wins are the most in league play for the Red Flash, while the team registered its second non-losing season and NEC Tournament berth in team history. Saint Francis tied its longest winning streak in program history during the season with six games.

Defensively, the team held eight opponents under 10 goals for the first time in program history. The team posted Top-10 marks on the program's single-season charts: points (273, third), assists (89, third), caused turnovers (136, fourth), goals (184, fifth), and draw controls (184, 10th).
