LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University softball continued its perfect start to the 2024 conference season with a 6-1 game one win and 2-0 game two win at Central Connecticut.

Rachel Marsden (12-5) allowed no runs on three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in the game two victory.

Grace Vesco (11-6) allowed one unearned run on two hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts to earn the game one victory.

Olivia Ulam went 4-for-8 with one run scored and two RBIs. She recorded two hits in each of the games.

TURNING POINTS OF GAME ONE
» Saint Francis did most of the game's damage in the first inning with a four-run showing. Ulam started the scoring with an RBI single that drove home
Kaylie Walters, followed by Wruble scoring on a passed ball.

Lexi Hernandez continued the rally with a sacrifice fly and
Sydney Baker capped off the scoring with an RBI double for a 4-0 lead.
» Central Connecticut got a run back in the second inning after a Red Flash error in the field and cut the deficit to 4-1.
» After four innings without a run, Saint Francis added to its lead with a Wruble RBI double and then Wruble scored on an error to open a 6-1 lead.
» With three groundouts produced in the bottom half, Vesco sealed Saint Francis' game one win.

TURNING POINTS OF GAME TWO
» Like game one, Ulam started the scoring in game two with an RBI single in the third inning. It accounted for the only run by either team through the first six innings.
» Wruble doubled the Red Flash lead in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly that drove home
Lauren Aubry for a 2-0 lead.
» Central Connecticut produced a baserunner in the seventh inning with one out, but two groundouts ended the game in a 2-0 Red Flash shutout victory.

» Walters stole two bases and raised her season total to 19, which is tied for fifth in single-season program history. She is four steals away from setting a new program record. Â
» Vesco's 10 strikeouts were a season high and she raised her career total to 699.
» Ulam has at least one RBI in nine of the 11 conference games played. She has eight multi-hit efforts during conference play. Â
