Women's Soccer Set To Visit Youngstown State

Youngstown, Ohio - Saint Francis women's soccer will look to remain unbeaten through three matches for the first time since 2008 when they visit Youngstown State on Thursday night.

Saint Francis So Far In 2024
Saint Francis enters the contest at 1-0-1 after a scoreless draw in their home opener against Iona. This marks the first time since 2019 that Saint Francis has gone unbeaten in their first two matches of a season. 

Mercedez Paino and Anouk Landgraff each have two points from their respective goals against Niagara. Raine Korpics and Eva Barakos each have a point from their assists on said goals. Paino and Rita Kendziora are tied for the team lead in shots with four each.

Emma Sawich has a .889 save percentage and eight saves through two games. She registered a clean sheet and three saves against Iona.

Sawich and Landgraff were named NEC Defensive Player of the Week and NEC Rookie of the Week respectively on Aug. 19. Sawich, Landgraff and Paino were all named Prime Performers for the week as well.

The Word On Youngstown State
The Penguins enter the match 0-0-1 after drawing 2-2 with Kent State on Aug. 18.
 
Lianna Van Sice and Taylor Berry were the goal scorers for Youngstown State. Chloe Weiland assisted on Van Sice's goal.

Maya Naimoli saved six shots in the contest.

Last Time We Met
Saint Francis and Youngstown State last met on Aug. 17, 2023 in a match that the Penguins won 3-1.

Raine Korpics scored the lone Red Flash goal in that contest. She was assisted by Tomke Dziesiaty.

Around The NEC
Delaware State will host Rider on Wednesday evening to kick off the action in the NEC this week.

Nine of the 11 teams in the conference will play on Thursday night, while CCSU and Mercyhurst play their only matches this week on Sunday Aug. 25.

FDU, Wagner, Delaware State, LIU and Howard all play two matches this week. The latter four are in action on Sunday and FDU is in action on Saturday Aug. 24.

Next Time Out
The Red Flash hit the road again to face a familiar foe in Robert Morris on Aug. 29. That match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. kick off.
