Emmitsburg, Md.- Saint Francis women's soccer suffered their second defeat of the season in a 2-0 loss against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday night.
"The team played really well today. We dominated every facet of the match except the scoreboard." Saint Francis women's soccer head coach
Brian Diaz said. "Obviously we have to find a way to finish our chances, but the team's performance was very good."

Sydoney Clark opened the scoring with a Mount St. Mary's goal in the 19th minute.Â
Erin Antone doubled the Mountaineer lead with a header goal in the 58th minute.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Francis was once again on the front foot in the opening minutes of the match.Â
An early corner kick led to a shot by Caterina Schiavo that went just wide of the post in the 2nd minute.Â
In the 16th minute Rita Kendziora had a go at goal but pushed it wide to the right.Â
Raine Korpics had a fantastic chance just two minutes later and was only denied by an excellent Adelaide Paredes save.Â
In the 25th minute, it seemed as if Pyle had equalized the match, but a narrow offsides call negated the goal.Â
Kopics would have another try in the 29th minute but hooked it left.Â
Korpics was again making waves in the match a couple of minutes later when she nearly connected with Kendziora on a cross at the back post, but it carried a bit too long.Â
In the 34th minute, Pyle had a chance for her third header goal in as many games from a corner kick but could not put it home.Â
Shortly thereafter, Kendziora tried to level the match with a shot that sailed high.Â
Evangelia Barakos nearly tied things up in the 41st minute when she lofted a shot that beat everyone but the crossbar. Â
Just two minutes later, Benton made a great save in close quarters to keep the deficit at one.Â
The second half started with some early chances for both sides. Barakos and Alyssa Mella had chances in rapid succession in the 48th minute, both of which could only be kept out by miraculous saves from Paredes.Â
Sawich came on in the second half and halted a dangerous Mountaineer chance to keep the Red Flash in the game.Â
Anouk Landgraff missed wide to the left on an ambitious strike in the 53rd minute.Â
Joy Zeeman made an excellent play to clear away an imminent Mount St. Mary's threat just a minute later.Â
Landgraff once again posed a threat on the right flank when she put a dangerous cross deep into the box that was caught by the keeper.Â
After the second Mount St. Mary's goal, Mercedez Paino tried to quickly cut the deficit back to one but missed high.Â
Rory Schaeffer tried to get a goal back for Saint Francis and missed wide in the 66th minute.Â
Lauren Pyle nearly scored on a header just a minute later but was denied by Paredes.Â
Sawich made an excellent diving save in the 72nd minute to deny the Mountaineers a third goal.Â
In the 80th minute Pyle put on a shot on net that was denied. Â
Korpics would have one more go at goal in the 86th minute but her shot was saved.Â
FLASH NUGGETS
Benton and Landgraff made their first starts of the season. It was Benton's first start at Saint Francis and the first start of Landgraff's young collegiate career. Â
The Red Flash eclipsed the 10-shot tally for the third time this season. They did so just twice a season ago.
"We will use this extra time off to reset and come back stronger." Diaz said. "The quality of play from this is really exciting. We keep taking steps forward everyday.".
