RUNNING START
Saint Francis will head to one of the most historic places in the United States to have its final tuneup for the NEC Championships at the 34th edition of the Aubrey Shenk Invitational. It will be the fifth time the Red Flash will head to the battlefield for this event and the first time since 2023. 41 teams will be competing during this meet, including St. Bonaventure and Towson.
LAST TIME TAKING OFF
The Red Flash traveled to the 24th Annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic, who hosted 41 teams at the starting line two weeks ago. For the women, the junior,
Anna Quackenbush, paced her way into 24th place with 22:29.6. Coming in 32nd with a time of 22:46.6, was
Nina Connors.
Morgan McNaughton came in 46th place with a time of 23:01.8. The women's team placed sixth during the invitational with a score of 332.
On the other side, for the men, Carlos Cheruiyot led Saint Francis with a time of 25:26.8 to place him in 15th. He was followed by Collin Dreese who finished in 103rd with a time of 26:26.9 and Micah Brydon who finished with a time of 27:15.8 to place him in 157th. The men's team ended up in 23rd place with a score of 609.
NEXT TIME RUNNING
The Red Flash will run it back for another home meet, this time for the NEC Championships. This will be hosted at B & D Acres on November 1 for the sixth time in team history.
NEC HONORS
Carlos Cheruiyot paced his way into 15th place during the 24th Annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic and into NEC Primer Performer last week. He finished with a time of 25:26.8 during the 8k.
Anna Quackenbush, who placed 24th for the women, finished with a time of 22:29.6. Last season the junior earned All-NEC team honors at the NEC Championship, while finishing 12th in the championship. This is the seventh NEC Prime Performer designation of her career.
