Red Flash Field Hockey Fall To Stags 5-1 in Fairfield

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
">> Saint Francis field hockey drops their its first contest in 12 games, falling to Fairfield 5-1 in a de facto NEC regular season championship battle on Friday.
>> The Red Flash end their 2025 regular season campaign with 14 wins.
>> Sophomore Addie Sholly records the stand-alone in today's affair.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
After Sholly tied the game at 1, Fairfield scored four goals to take control of the game and earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament.

FLASH MOMENTS
Sholly converted a penalty stroke goal to tie the game at 1 in the 12th minute.

FLASH NUGGETS
Sholly registered her fourth goal of the season and now has nine points in her first season in Loretto.

For the second time in program history, Saint Francis has reached the 14-win mark in a season, last time coming in 2014 under Stacey Bean.

The Red Flash finish their season having won 11 of their last 12 games, with their last loss coming all the way back on September 14th, when Saint Francis lost to Indiana 5-1.

This is just the third time this season that Mia DiGenova has given up three or more goals. Outside of Fairfield, the junior netminder has kept her opponents to two goals or less in 14 of her 18 starts this season.

In a weird twist of fate, this season is mirroring the one in 2012 when the Red Flash lost to Rider in the de facto NEC regular season title bout to finish second and with a 6-1 record. That was the last season the Red Flash competed in the NEC after the NEC dropped field hockey in 2013 and Saint Francis joined the Atlantic-10.

NEXT ON TAP
Saint Francis has clinched the second seed in the NEC Tournament. The Red Flash will travel back up to Fairfield for the NEC Champinships as the No. 2 seed and will face the third-seed Wagner. Game time is 2 p.m.
