TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Saint Francis and Le Moyne matched up Sunday for the Red Flash's last game of the season at Stokes Soccerplex. Fifteen minutes into the match, Dolphins snuck one into the back of the net with header to get ahead of the Red Flash. The rest of the half was pretty back and forth between possession the two teams.
The Red Flash had many opportunities to net one during the second half while holding most of the possession. Mercedez Paino almost completed a connection from Riley Kerr to put one in. With all these opportunities, the Red Flash could not seem to seal the deal and put one between the posts.
FLASH MOMENTS
Emma Sawich recorded seven saves in goal today for the Red Flas.
Lucia Johnson had a scoring opportunity at 16:54, but was saved by Le Moyne's goalkeeper.
Angelina Kasak had a chance of her own at 27:40, but was saved by the Dolphins' keeper.
Riley Cerqua at 43:35 took a shot that landed in the hands of the goalkeeper.
Paino had an opportunity to score at 48:48 but was stopped by Le Moyne's keeper.
Raine Korpics sent a rocket towards the goal that skimmed over the crossbar at 59:54.
Caterina Schiavo at 63:41 had a great chance the missed just right of the goal.
Riley Kerr at 65:14, with a great run, missed left of the goal.
Lauren Persichetty at 89:17 had a chance that was blocked by a Dolphin's defender.
FLASH NUGGETS
Maridza Desir, a St. Lazare, Quebec native, appeared in 15 games with two starts in her career and has registered nine shots on goal in her two seasons in Loretto. Majoring in Criminal Justice, she plans to go to law school and continue to play soccer with the Haitian national team.
Raine Korpics, a Walnutport, Pennsylvania native, appeared in 55 games with 49 starts. She has registered 10 goals and two assists In her career with three goals in each of her last three seasons. A Physician's Assistant major, she will complete her master's degree next during clinical rotation and begin her career as a Physician's Assistant by the end of 2026.
Lauren Persichetty, a Staten Island, N.Y native, who appeared in 65 games with 39 starts. She was the 2023 NEC Defensive Player of the Year, had six goals and three assists for 15 points, including four tallies and three assists for 11 points in 2023. Working on her MBA, she will begin her professional career at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Manhattan in July.
Emma Sawich, a McMurray, Pennsylvania native, who has plated in 44 games in goal for the Red Flash with 283 saves. She has registered a career-best 136 saves this season. A Physical Therapy major, she will do a clinical rotation to finish last year of school to earn her doctorate of physical therapy.
