LORETTO, Pa.- Saint Francis redshirt sophomore running back Jordan Theodore has been with the Red Flash for the past three seasons, only now seeing action on the field. Since appearing in his first game against the University of Louisiana Monroe in late August, the halfback has rushed for 136 yards on 35 attempts in the six games he's appeared in.

This past Monday, Theodore received his very first NEC Prime Performer honor. This came after an impressive weekend against NEC foe Wagner College in a back-and-forth game, where the tailback had a breakout performance, rushing for 121 yards and putting the Red Flash in prime striking distance on the Seahawks' side of the field.

Earlier this week, Theodore sat down for a one-on-one interview to take part in the newest edition of the Red Flash 10:

  1. Could you tell us a little about yourself? What do you want people to know and remember you for?

  • That I represent my city. I'm from the 716, that's from Buffalo, New York. I pride myself on that, just because in terms of football, the area wasn't really recruited when I was younger, so to be able to put in the work to try to get where I'm at now with other guys from there like Balaam, Kamari, Niselle, and Dayrell it just means so much to me to represent where we came from.

  1. Jordan, Week two, we traveled to Buffalo University. What was it like scoring a touchdown in front of your hometown crowd?

  • There's only one way I can honestly describe it. I would have to say it was a true blessing, being able to play in front of my family, in front of my hometown, with all my high school friends watching, and then especially having the younger generation watch me leave Buffalo and then come back to play them. It was a big deal, and I could not have been more grateful for the opportunity.

  1. If you had the sum of your playing style in three words, what would you choose and why?

  • I'd say agile, aggressive, and patient. Agile, because just being a running back, I got to be able to make decisions on the fly, and, you know, I got to maintain my balance. Aggressive because I'm definitely undersized and all that. But I'm definitely willing to try to run into somebody if I see him, because every yard matters; you always have to fight for more yards. Lastly, I'd say patience because it's a chaotic game. So anything can happen. So, I try to react to what the O-line is doing. You just have to respond to where the gaps open up and wait for that perfect moment.

  1. Who had the most significant impact on your life, and in what ways has the influence shaped who you are today?

  • Definitely my mother, just because growing up, I was watching her constantly going to work, going to school, and doing all of that while raising three kids at such a young age? I mean, she had me when she was just 18, so watching her do everything she could do to make our lives better just meant so much to me, and that's why she's the ultimate inspiration in my life. She made me who I am, and I couldn't be more grateful for her.

  1. You're known across the team as being very committed to your faith, always participating in chapel and similar activities. How has faith influenced your football career?

  • The Lord is truly remarkable when you take the time to understand Him deeply. In my view, prayer is one of the most vital practices—connecting and building a relationship with the Lord. Nothing is more significant than that. Particularly in football, where each game might be your last, it's important to trust God's plan and play with the confidence that He has granted me another day, another opportunity, another down. I truly do not take that for granted.

  1. What's a life lesson football has taught you and carried you beyond the field?

  • The earliest one was probably that once you get knocked down, you've got to get back up. You know, it sounds kind of cliché to football, but it's true, you've got to get right back up and get right back to it to gain that next yard, and I think that's the most important thing I've learned so far.

  1. So when you're not playing football, what are you doing? Like, what are you doing on campus?

  • I'm definitely hanging out with my teammates. Loretto is quite small, so you get to know everyone, and sometimes that's all you can do is hang out with your friends. However, whenever I'm not doing that, I'm usually trying to calm my mind by reading the Bible or studying film. Athletes need to allow their body and mind to recover, so I'll incorporate some stretching or simply watch a little TV when I can to clear my mind.

  1. What made you come to Saint Francis?

  • I had several offers after high school that I was considering, but the opportunity here was just too good to pass up. I truly trusted Coach Villarrial and Coach Hutchison, and it felt like the best place for my academic and athletic career. Living here in Loretto has been such a blessing, and I will never regret my decision.

  1. Favorite song on your game day playlist?

  • That's a great question. As I grew up, "Dreams and Nightmares" by Meek Mill was always a crazy one.  But right now, I've been listening to " At The Light" by G Herbo; that one has been on repeat a lot lately before games.

  1. Everyone has a great road trip story when traveling with the team. What's your favorite memory from all those long bus and plane rides this year?

  • Going to ULM was awesome. That would definitely be my favorite road game this year, as we're playing an FBS team and flying for the first time in my playing career. That was definitely a great trip. But honestly, going back to Buffalo was my favorite experience. My teammates got to visit where I grew up, see Niagara Falls, and just have that moment with them in my city. It was a blessing.
