Saint Francis Men's Basketball Starts Three-Game Road Trip With Loss At Radford

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis started its final non-conference road trip of the season with a loss at Radford in men's basketball action on Sunday.
>> For the second-straight game, Paris Papadatos led the Red Flash in scoring with 15 points, while Skylar Wicks added 14 points.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
After Saint Francis took the lead on the first basket of the game, the Highlanders took the lead it would not relinquish on its first score of the game en route to an 89-56 decision in the second meeting between the two programs.

FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash registered eight of 13 points after Wicks and Chris Moncrief hit back-to-back 3-pointers at 8:03 and 7:36, respectively, in the first half and Wicks added a jumper.

Papadatos powered a 13-5 run late in the first half with eight points on two from downtown and a jumper. Victor Payne started the spurt with a 3-pointer and dished out an assist on Trey Weiand breakaway layup.

The momentum of the first half started with the first possession in the second half with Wick nailing a 3-ball in the corner off a Papadatos pass to trim the margin to 10 points, but the Frankies could not get any closer the rest of the way.

FLASH
NUGGETS

After making his collegiate debut in the waning minutes against Xavier on December 1, Papadotos was the Red Flash's leading scorer in the last two games and is averaging 17.0 points per game in those two games and is shooting 54.5 percent (12-for-22) from the floor, 46.2 percent from behind the arc (6-for-13) and 100 percent from free throw line. The freshman missed his first five shots in the game on Wednesday and started his collegiate career 1 of 9, so is shooting even better, hitting at 70.5 percent (12-for-17) from the field and 54.5 from 3-point land (6-for-11) in the last three halves that he has played. Papadatos averaged 12.0 points per game in the week, but only played four minutes in his collegiate debut against the Musketeers.

Wicks has registered double figures in all eight games he has played. The game against Radford marked his first game in a Red Flash uniform he did not reach 15 points or five rebounds in a game. The redshirt senior dished out two assists against the Highlanders to mark his seventh multi-assist game this season and has 11 helpers in the last three games he has played.

Moncrief made his return to the floor after missing the last eight games due to an injury he sustained early in the first half at TCU on November 6. He had three points, one rebound and one assist on Sunday.

The Red Flash had 11 assists against Radford, ending a streak of three-straight games with at least 20 assists. The Red Flash had not turned that trick dating back to at least the 1997-98 season, but came close in 2004-05 when the squad had three of four games with 20 or more assists and narrowly missed four in a row, finishing with 19 from December 4-19, 2004.

NEXT ON TAP

Saint Francis will now take a week off for finals before playing its final three non-conference games from December 14-20. The Red Flash start the final tuneup for NEC play at Temple on Sunday, December 14 at noon.
