>> Softball started the Spiro Classic with losses to Toledo and UNCG, 7-4 and 10-1.
Toledo put up three runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a 7-3 lead, tacking on two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to widen their lead to 10-3.
The Spartans, up 4-1 going into the fifth inning, tallied six runs, all unearned, to end the game in five.

The Red Flash had a strong start in the first inning against Toledo.
Annabelle Farmer reached on an error, advancing
Olivia Ulam to third. Zielinski then made it to first on an error, allowing Ulam to make it home.
Madelynn Bates was hit by a pitch to load the bases before
Aliya Garroway was also hit by a pitch to score another run. The Rockets pitcher walked
Morgan Pasternak, making the score 3-0 with Zielinski tallying the final run of the inning.
AB Cipalla reached on a UNCG error, advancing to second from a single by Olivia Ulam in the first inning. Zielinski and Garroway were both walked, allowing Cipalla to go home, scoring the only run of the game for the Red Flash.
FLASH NUGGETS
Garroway and Zielinski led the team in RBIs. Garroway tallied one in each game with Zielinski recording both in the game against Toledo.
Olivia Kolowitz pitched for two innings against the Rockets, allowing four runs and walking four batters. Addison Deal was also on the mound for the first game, pitching for three innings and allowing six runs (four earned). Deal also had one strikeout.
Allie Braly was the lone pitcher for Saint Francis in the afternoon's contest, allowing 10 runs (three earned) and walking six batters.
