TURNING POINTS OF THE MATCH
The teams started out the match in a neck-and-neck first set. Neither team got above a two point lead, as the score ended up tied at 19 going into the final serves. It was at this point that the Red Flash scored three-straight points thanks to two Stump kills and a
Michael Mosbacher ace. That was the momentum that carried the squad through the rest of the set on their way to a 25-22 set one win.
Set two began with the Chargers gaining the upper edge, jumping out to a 13-8 lead and continuing to maintain their five point advantage at 16-11. Saint Francis bounced back with a 6-1 rally to knot the score at 17. From there, it was a duel until the very end, with neither team getting above a one point advantage until the extra serves. The Red Flash had a chance to put it away at 24-23, but couldn't capitalize. Dominican scored three straight points to take the second set, 26-24.
The third set was dominated by the home team. Saint Francis got out to a blazing 11-3 lead and would continue their streaky start by extending their advantage to 22-10. They would go on to win set three, 25-14.
Set four was tightly contested, with the score tied at 15-15 midway through. The Red Flash proceeded to score two straight points to go up 17-15. Then, the teams exchanged points until it was 21-20 Saint Francis. What occurred afterwards proved to be the game changer, as the Red Flash scored two straight points that helped them separate themselves for good. A Deardorff kill for match point put the set four final score at 25-22.
