Men's And Women's Tennis Both Defeat Wagner

Staten Island, N.Y. – Both Saint Francis University Tennis teams defeated Wagner to wrap up their road trips on Saturday night. The women won 4-3 and the men won 5-2.

Doubles 
The Seahawks won the no. 1 and 2 doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead in the contest.

Dasha Chichkina and Morgan Tuffs won 6-2 in the no. 3 match. Chichkina is 14-15 in doubles this season, while Tuffs is an even 9-9.

Singles 
Saint Francis won the no. 1, 4, 5 and 6 singles matches to remain perfect in Northeast Conference play at 5-0.

Diana Zuba continued her winning ways with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the no. 1 match. The 2024 NEC Rookie of the Year won her 20th singles match of the season. Zuba is now 20-6.

Kally Kadzinski got Saint Francis back into the match with a 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2 win in the no. 4 slot. The Parkland, Fla. native is now 15-10 in singles on the year.

Sara Jankovic tied the match at 3-3 with her 6-2, 6-1 win in the no. 5 match. The sophomore notched her seventh singles win on the year.

Tuffs came up clutch with her second win of the day in the no. 6 singles match to clinch the victory for Saint Francis. The freshman won her match 6-4, 6-4. Tuffs improves to 12-7 this season in singles.

Men's Results: Saint Francis 5, Wagner 2.  

Doubles 
The Red Flash won the no. 1 and 2 doubles matches to claim the doubles point.

Alan Gonzalez and Gregory Troyan won the no. 1 match 6-4. Gonzalez is now 11-9 in doubles play, while Troyan moves back to .500 at 7-7.

Mathis Tremblay and Kevin Kruzel won the no. 2 doubles match 6-4 as well. Tremblay is now 14-6 in doubles on the year,  while Kruzel is 10-8 now.

Singles 
Saint Francis won the no. 1, 3, 4, and 6 matches to earn their 5-2 win.

Gonzalez won the no. 1 match by retirement. Gonzalez's match sat at 6-3, 3-6, 4-1 before it ended. The sophomore improves to 12-9 in singles on the year.

Kevin Titus Suresh won the no. 3 match in a 6-2, 6-4 result. The Bengaluru, India native is now 15-6 in singles this season. 

Patrick Reese clinched the match for the Red Flash via a 6-4, 6-3 win in the no. 4 slot. Reese improves to 7-7 in singles this season.

Troyan earned the fifth and final point of the night for Saint Francis with a 6-2, 6-7 (7-9), 1-0 (10-8) win. It was Troyan's fifth singles win of the year.

Flash Facts 
Zuba has won nine of her last 10 singles matches. The Marlboro, N.J. product is two wins away from 60 total wins in her career.

Tuffs' two wins against the Seahawks brings her to 20 total career wins.

Tremblay, Kruzel and Troyan are all approaching 30 career doubles wins. Tremblay has 29, while Kruzel and Troyan each have 28.

Tremblay is also approaching 50 total career wins. He currently has 47.

Women's tennis returns home for a match against Bucknell at 9 a.m. On Mar. 22, while the men head out to Pittsburgh to face Carnegie Mellon on Mar. 21.
