TURNING POINTS OF THE MATCH
The Red Flash held the lead throughout all of set one, but it started in a close affair. After going up 11-8 to start out, the Royals cut their deficit to 14-13. With a Deardorff kill, the score was 15-13 going into the media timeout. The break helped Saint Francis, as they used the previous point to go on an 8-2 run to take a 22-15 lead. This was enough momentum to carry them through the remaining serves, as a Sam Lane kill helped give the team a 25-21 first set win.
The second set began with the Red Flash getting out to an 8-6 advantage. Queens responded with a 9-2 rally to go up 15-10 heading into the media timeout. Just like set one, the short break sparked a comeback for Saint Francis, as they cut the score to 21-20. They continued to claw back to make it 24-23 after a Sam Lane kill, but a service error right after helped give the Royals a 25-23 set two victory.
Set three was dominated by Queens. They got out to three different five-point leads before the score ended up at 15-10 going into the media timeout. The break didn't help the Red Flash this time, as the Royals used their hot start to win the third set by a score of 25-15.
The fourth set was hotly contested, with neither team gaining more than a one-point lead through the midway point. The score was knotted at 17-17 after the media timeout. This was when Queens gained the upper hand, scoring three straight points to go up 20-17 and kept it at 24-21 going into match point. Saint Francis tried to rally with two straight points, but a kill from the Royals guided them to the 3-1 victory.
