Softball Drops Home Doubleheader Against FDU

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Softball fell to FDU in both games of a doubleheader, 12-2 (6 inn.) and 12-4.

TURNING POINTS
With a 7-2 lead heading into the sixth, the Knights tallied five runs in the top of the sixth for a 12-2 score to take the win.

Savannah Nash was walked to load the bases in the bottom of the sixth. Up 7-3, FDU turned a double-play, preventing Saint Francis from attempting to tie the game. The Knights scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning, staying in front.


FLASH MOMENTS
With bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, Hannah Bendle found the gap in left field for a two-run double to make the score 7-2 in favor of FDU.

Addie Smith grounded out to the second baseman but gave Bendle the scoring opportunity to make the score 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth in game two.

In the bottom of the sixth, Sofia Zielinski walked before Aliya Garroway hit a double into right center for a 7-2 score. With Garroway on third and Morgan Pasternak on first, Bendle hit the ball just past the shortstop to allow Garroway to score and narrow FDU's lead to 7-3.

Annabelle Farmer got credit for a run in the bottom of the seventh after being walked to make the score 12-4.


FLASH NUGGETS
Bendle went 2-for-6 on the day with one run, three RBIs and a double.

Olivia Ulam recorded 13 putouts between the two games.

Allie Braly pitched all six innings of game one, allowing 12 runs (nine earned) with two strikeouts and six walks.

Olivia Kolowitz and Addison Deal split time in the circle, pitching three and four innings, respectively. Kolowitz allowed five earned runs with two walks and one strikeout. Deal allowed seven runs (four earned) with two strikeouts.
