Georgia Ellison and
Caylah Olay, members of the Saint Francis water polo team, have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large team.
Ellison has a 4.0 grade-point average in her psychological science major. She posted 18 tallies and 14 assists for 32 points. Her 46.0 shot percentage ranked second on the team, adding 21 steals and 18 ejections against.
Olay boasts a 3.81 grade-point average in health science -physical therapy. This season, she paced the Red Flash with 77 goals and 24 assists for 101 points. She also registered 64 ejections drawn and 21 steals in her junior campaign.
Olay becomes the first water polo player to earn multiple all-district recognition and marks the 46th time in Saint Francis history a student-athlete has earned more than one academic all-district distinction.
Ellison and Olay join field hockey players Consu de Castro and Dolores Zavaleta and women's lacrosse players, Victoria DiRenno and Chyler Espino for the Red Flash as female at-large team members.
A student-athlete must have a 3.5 GPA, be at least a sophomore, and participate in 90 percent of the events or start in 66 percent of the matches to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District team. Each school can nominate six male and six female student-athletes in the at-large category from these sports: Women's Beach Volleyball, Women's Bowling, Women's Crew/Rowing, Men's and Women's Fencing, Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Rifle, Men's and Women's Skiing, Men's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Water Polo, Men's Wrestling.
