Geno Calgaro, a member of the Saint Francis football team, has been named an NEC Prime Performer for the second week in a row. The sophomore took home the distinction last week after also being selected as the NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Calgaro paced the defense again with a career-high 15 tackles against FBS Buffalo on Saturday, including two tackles for a loss. Calgaro posted 10 tackles for the second-straight game, both coming against FBS opponents. He has recorded double figures in tackles in four of his last five games, including three consecutive. The last time a Red Flash player had 15 tackles was Carter Glassmyer against Sacred Heart on September 23, 2023. He leads the NEC in tackles with 27 (14 solo, 13 assisted) after playing two games against FBS programs.
The sophomore was also named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 28-November 3, 2024. He was the NEC Rookie of the Week for that week, and for October 14-20, 2024.
Saint Francis returns to action when it opens NEC play at CCSU on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
