The Saint Francis men's basketball game at Chicago State, originally scheduled for Thursday, January 29, has been postponed. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, February 9, at 4 p.m. EST, at the Jones Convocation Center.
With this change, the Red Flash will play four road games in eight days. Saint Francis will travel to Mercyhurst (February 5), Le Moyne (February 7), Chicago State (February 9), and FDU (February 12) before returning to Loretto for the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the 1991 NEC Championship team and jersey retirement of Joe Anderson and Mike Iuzzolino on February 14.
This is the second consecutive game the Red Flash has had postponed, following the January 24 game at New Haven, which was postponed due to inclement weather. A makeup date is to be announced.
With these two changes, Saint Francis will have eight days between contests, riding a two-game winning streak. The Red Flash defeated Chicago State 80-61 in Loretto on January 22.
Skylar Wicks paced the Frankies with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while
Chris Moncrief added 18 points and
Zion Russell registered his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Red Flash shot 73.9 percent in the first half, its best shooting percentage since hitting at a 70.4 percent clip against Bryant on December 31, 2017. The team had 23 assists against the Cougars, the most assists against a Division I opponent since dishing out 23 helpers against CCSU on February 7, 2019. The Frankies had 21 assists against Xavier earlier this year.
Saint Francis returns to action on Saturday at DeGol Arena against New Haven. Game time is 7 p.m. The Chargers will be the 24th team the Red Flash will play in NEC history. Prior to the game, Saint Francis will honor senior team manager
Matthew Hall, and the coaching staff will wear suits and sneakers as part of NABC Sneakers and Suits Week to raise awareness of cancer.
