LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis men's soccer ended its final home game with a 0-0 draw on the afternoon. The Red Wolves also celebrated its senior, Álvaro Planas, this afternoon. He was recognized for his hard work, dedication, leadership, and contributions to the Saint Francis men's soccer program throughout his four years. A huge congratulations and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors!
Both teams battled throughout the match, with possession going back and forth and each side creating opportunities to score. Strong defensive play on both ends made it difficult for either team to find the back of the net, as both defenses put pressure on the opposing offense and limited scoring chances. Despite the opportunities, neither team was able to break through, and the match ended in a scoreless draw.
Brian Hegerty finished with 11 saves in goal to help the Red Wolves earn the shutout.
Planas led the Red Wolves with seven shots, including two on goal.
Daniel Rose, Jr. added one shot on target as Saint Francis finished with 10 shots overall and three on goal.
The match marked the final home appearance for the Red Wolves this season. Saint Francis will be back on the road on Wednesday to close out the season. The Red Wolves will be taking on Franciscan in Steubenville, Ohio, and kickoff is at 5 p.m.
