HIRAM, OH -- Saint Francis lost to Hiram, who sits tied for first place, in three sets.
The Red Wolves had a quick 3-0 run to start the first set.
Alexandra Sappia set up
Emmi Adrian to nab the first kill. They repeated the same motion for another Adrian kill. Sappia set up
Ava Holden for the last kill right down the middle. Hiram went on a couple runs of its own, including a 3-0 run to take the set 25-15.
Late in the second set, when Saint Francis was down 16-21, they fueled a 3-0 run to close the gap. Sappia set up middle blocker
Allie Dziabo for a kill. Then
Ana Andrades-Villa grabbed a service ace of her own right off the arms of Hiram's libero. Holden shut down the Terriers middle hitter with a huge solo block. Unfortunately it was not enough to pull ahead and take control, falling 21-25 in the second and 22-25 in the third set.
Offensively, Sappia led with 20 assists, 10 digs, four kills, and one ace. Dziabo registered seven kills, two digs, one solo block, and a .600 hitting percentage. Holden also had seven kills and three solo blocks.
Defensively,
Samantha Whitling recorded 12 digs.
Aleya Talmadge was right behind her with 11 digs.
The Red Wolves will play their final home match of the season against Saint Vincent. This will take place Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
