Saint Francis Women's Soccer Falls to Carnegie Mellon Tuesday Evening

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis women's soccer matched up with Carnegie Mellon Tuesday evening, with the Tartans earning a 9-0 victory. Carnegie Mellon found the back of the net within the first two minutes of the match and continued to apply pressure throughout the contest.

Meredith Artz recorded two shots on goal. Riley Cerqua, Morgan Schlegal, and Molly Baker each tallied a shot on goal as well. 

Alyssa Walker was busy between the posts, finishing the evening with 17 saves.

The Red Wolves had nine newcomers make their collegiate debut, including Juliana Nerney, Reagan Truxillo, Morgan Schlegal, Molly Baker, Katie Droulliard, Mara Kirkpatrick, Ella Gladfelter, Marleigh Gray, and Ainsley Rutt. Three newcomers make their Red Wolves debut, which includes Alyssa Walker, Brianna Cleary, and Delaney Urban.

"It was obviously a tough day for us. But it was a good day from the standpoint of learning. A lot of young players got a lot of valuable minutes," said head coach Brian Diaz. "We needed to see what the upper echelon of Division III looks like, and we got to see that today. There is still plenty for us to build on and to be excited about."

The Red Wolves return to action Friday, September 5, at 6 p.m. Saint Francis will take on Ohio Wesleyan on the road in Delaware, Ohio.
