BOX SCORE WASHINGTON, Pa. – Saint Francis women's soccer shut out Washington and Jefferson (W&J) Tuesday evening, earning a 2-0 road victory.

The Red Wolves got on the board early within the 12th minute, as Meredith Artz finished off of a pass from Mercedez Paino to give Saint Francis the early 1-0 lead. Saint Francis carried the advantage into halftime, keeping W&J off the scoreboard through the first 45 minutes.

The Red Wolves added to their lead early in the second half, with Reagan Truxillo finding the back of the net in the 49th minute off another assist from Paino, putting Saint Francis ahead 2-0. Saint Francis continued to hold W&J scoreless for the remainder of the match to secure the shutout victory.

Truxillo led the Red Wolves with five shots, including two on goal. Artz recorded four shots with two on goal. Molly Baker, Riley Cerqua and Paino each tallied one.

Truxillo recorded her first collegiate goal this evening.

Alyssa Walker recorded four saves in goal for the Red Wolves to earn the shutout.

"The team played very well today. Our pace of play was really good. We started strong and kept it going for 90 minutes tonight," said head coach Brian Diaz, commenting on tonight's win. "W&J is a tough opponent and caused some issues with their attack. But our back line played well and kept things tight in the back. This team keeps impressing and keeps raising the bar. It was a very good evening for us." 

Saint Francis will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Red Wolves will take on Allegheny on the road in Meadville, Pa.
