Biography

JUNIOR (2011) – Appeared in 36 games, 29 of which were starts on the mound … recorded 10 hits in 29 at-bats with one double and two RBI … had three multi-hit games, all in consecutive games … went 2-for-3 in game two at Mount St. Mary’s (4/17) with a double, an RBI and a run scored … committed just four errors on the year … led the team with nine wins from the pitching circle … threw 19 complete games, three shutouts and compiled an earned run average of 3.60 … racked up 193.8 innings pitched and struck out 120 batters … threw a season-high eight strikeouts twice in back-to-back games, first against Brown (3/19) and again versus Morgan State (3/20) … tossed four complete game shutouts …threw at least 6.0 innings of work on 21 separate occasions … NEC Co-Pitcher of the Week (3/14) after giving up just one run in 21.0 innings of work, striking out 16 … Capital One Academic All-District II first team selection.

SOPHOMORE (2010) – Layne enjoyed a breakout season for the Red Flash in her first year as No. 1 starter … set school record with 38 appearances and tossed 210.0 innings, which is second-most for a single-season at SFU … struck out 149 batters, which ranked fourth in the NEC and third for a season at Saint Francis … had 11 wins, 25 complete games and two shutouts … gave up just one run on five hits, while striking out four and walking none in win over Eastern Michigan (2/27) … pitched first shutout of season in a five-hit, seven strikeout performance against Rhode Island (3/20) … struck out eight in a three-hit shutout gem against Akron (4/20) … gave up just one earned run (two total), surrendered four hits and struck out two in a win over NEC champion Long Island (5/2).

FRESHMAN (2009) – Finished with an 8-9 record, 4.21 ERA and had 80 strikeouts in 101.1 innings pitched ... picked up first career hit vs. Towson (2/21) ... earned first career win by giving up just one run on seven hits, while striking out four, in a complete game against Niagara (3/4) ... struck out two and pitched 4.0 scoreless innings in a win over Delaware State (3/14) ... picked up first career RBI, struck out a career-high 13 batters and gave up two runs (one unearned) on three hits in 8.0 inning win over Binghamton (3/21).

BEFORE SFU – Was a three-year pitcher for head coach Tracy Cordes at Rodriguez (Calif.) High School ... went 17-0 in 2008, her senior season, compiling 92.2 innings pitched, 107 strikeouts, allowed just 15 walks, held hitters to a .176 batting average and sported a 1.07 earned run average ... was a scholar-athlete sophomore through senior seasons, and was SCAC all-League ... also a member of the National Honor Society and Academic Letter & Torches ... Rodriguez High School Female Athlete of the Year in 2007-08.
