A.J. Anderson was named the Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities & Operations in 2014 after serving more than one season as the University's first Director of Operations for Athletics. He joined the Saint Francis staff in February 2003.
Anderson's responsibilities include coordinating or assisting in all event operations, including football game day events at DeGol Field. He also oversees the day-to-day operations of the Maurice Stokes Athletic Center and all other athletic facilities on campus.
Additionally, Anderson monitors facility projects and maintenance activities by the SFU Physical Plant staff. Also, he is responsible for maintaining a schedule of practices, games, and events incorporating all 23 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs, intramurals and club related groups, non-athletic university events, along with outside groups in Saint Francis University athletic venues.
Prior to Anderson's position in athletic administration he was an assistant football coach at Saint Francis for nine seasons. He coached several different positions while on staff, including linebackers, defensive linemen, running backs, and special teams. Anderson also served as the team's recruiting coordinator.
During his time with the Red Flash football program, he coached Scott Lewis who became the Northeast Conference's all-time leader in tackles with 524. Matt Parker also earned All-NEC honors under Anderson's direction. Both Lewis and Parker tied for the team lead in tackles for loss with 13.5. Parker led the team with seven total sacks.
In 2005, when Anderson helped coach the team’s running backs, he oversaw Todd Harris' run to the record books. Harris was named to the All-NEC First Team and set the school’s career rushing record with 3,414 yards. In addition, Anderson recruited Kyle Harbridge, who is arguably the best offensive player to ever don the Red Flash jersey. Harbridge graduated from SFU in 2013 as the school's all-time leading rusher.
Anderson is a 1999 graduate of Lock Haven University, where he was also a four-year starter in football. Before coming to Saint Francis, Anderson served as recruiting coordinator and running backs coach at Albright College. He also earned his Master's Degree in Education from Saint Francis in 2005.
