A 2017 graduate Erik Walker rejoins the Red Flash in the spring of 2019 in time for the spring football season. He coached the inside linebackers in 2019.
As a team, the Saint Francis defense ranked 3rd in the NEC and 13th in FCS in total defense (318.4 ypg), and third in the NEC in scoring defense (21.8 ppg) in 2019.
Walker's linebackers played downhill as Saint Francis led the NEC and ranked 7th in FCS in tackles for loss (8.4 per game) and second in sacks with 34.
Sophomore Brian Lee Jr. made major strides under Walker, recording 70 tackles, 12.5 tfls, 5.0 sacks and an interception in his first season as a starter.
Walker was an outside linebacker for the Red Flash from 2012-16, helping the Red Flash capture the 2016 Northeast Conference title. Walker's best season came as a red shirt junior in 2015 where he recorded 35 tackles including four sacks. The Clairton native worked with the linebackers as an assistant in the 2017 season and returns to work with that group on a full-time basis.
