Niland joined the Red Flash in August 2019 and will serve as a graduate assistant while he pursues a master’s degree.

Niland was a four-year member of the basketball program at Penn State University-Behrend, where he made First Team All-Conference in 2017 and 2019 and Second Team All-Conference in 2016 and 2018.

He also earned the 2016 AMCC Freshman of the Year award and was a 2019 All-ECAC honorable mention.

At Behrend, Niland was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and volunteered at the TOPS Basketball Program, a program developed by Penn State Behrend to help disabled children play basketball.

A nephew of John Beilein, Niland has worked as a basketball camp counselor at widespread college programs, including Behrend, Nazareth College, Lemoyne College, Daemen College and University of Michigan.
