McQuiggan arrives in Loretto after three years as the assistant director at Northeast Conference member Bryant, where he served as the contact for the Bulldogs’ men’s basketball, men’s and women's lacrosse, women’s volleyball, and men's golf programs.
The Bryant men’s basketball team enjoyed increased coverage from local and national media during McQuiggan’s tenure, while the program's social media following increased by over 600% in his three seasons in Smithfield. McQuiggan worked with the women’s volleyball and men's lacrosse programs to grow their social media following to the largest in the NEC and also served as the contact for men's golf and women's lacrosse for part of his time at Bryant.
McQuiggan worked at Stony Brook from 2015-17, where he was the contact for the Seawolves' top-five women's lacrosse program in addition to working with women's basketball, women’s volleyball, cross country and track & field. The women's lacrosse program saw a 400% growth in social media following and was featured numerous times by SportsCenter, ESPN.com and Sports Illustrated in addition to gracing the season preview covers of Inside Lacrosse and US Lacrosse Magazine. McQuiggan worked on the campaign for Tewaaraton finalist Kylie Ohlmiller in 2017 and three other Tewaaraton nominees along with NCAA Woman of the Year finalist Christina Melian.
Prior to his time at Stony Brook, McQuiggan gained experience at both the FBS and FCS levels, working in communications roles at Middle Tennessee and the American Athletic Conference after beginning his postgraduate career at NEC member Wagner. While at Middle Tennessee, he served as the Blue Raider baseball contact and road broadcaster as he worked to promote future major league pitcher Zac Curtis.
McQuiggan got his start in college athletics as an undergraduate at Quinnipiac, where he served in a variety of roles in the Bobcats' athletic communications office before earning a bachelor of arts in journalism in 2012. A two-time winner of Quinnipiac's Katie Vashon Sports Information Award under now-Southern Connecticut Associate AD Ken Sweeten, McQuiggan has had the privilege of working with the next generation of athletic communicators. Former student workers, interns, and graduate assistants have worked their way to full-time positions at Ohio State, LSU, Grand Canyon, Stony Brook, and Sacred Heart.
