Saint Francis men's and women's tennis head coach Lisa Swope announced the hiring of Mariah Turiano as assistant coach on Friday, Sept. 9, 2019.
Turiano comes to SFU after a successful collegiate career at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa. She led her team to three Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) team titles and the school's first NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships appearance in 2014. She also assisted in Westminster's first NCAA championships victory in 2016 and made an appearance in the NCAA championships in 2017.
"I am beyond excited to become the next men's and women's assistant tennis coach at Saint Francis University," Turiano said. "I would like to thank Director of Athletics Susan Robinson Fruchtl and head tennis coach Lisa Swope for this amazing opportunity. I have always held high regard for Saint Francis University. It's an honor to accept this role, and I'm looking forward to meeting the team and working together to see what our future holds. There is no better place that I would rather begin my coaching career."
Turiano is a 2017 graduate of Westminster with a bachelor's in accounting and business administration. She resides in Hollidaysburg, Pa. and is a staff accountant at Okonak Dean Lechner P.C. in Altoona, Pa.
