One of the most accomplished student-athletes in Saint Francis University history, Jordan Varee enters his second season as a men’s volleyball assistant coach in 2016.
In 2015, Varee helped lead the Red Flash against 10 nationally-ranked opponents, including matches against three of the four finalists in the NCAA Tournament. The Red Flash nearly upset No. 1 and eventual national champion Loyola-Chicago, taking a two-sets-to-one lead over the Ramblers before falling in five sets.
Varee helped coach Mike Marshman to Sports Import/National Player of the Week recognition. Marshman helped the Red Flash snap a seven-match losing streak to Harvard in the upset win over the Crimson. Marshman nailed 12 kills on .750 hitting with four digs and as many blocks. The junior tallied 15 kills and hit .407 in the five-set win over Sacred Heart. Marshman was also named First Team All-EIVA for this performance in 2015.
Varee had an outstanding four-year career at SFU and went on to play professionally in Sweden. The Conneautville, Pa. native completed his celebrated collegiate career in 2010, and is arguably one of the most accomplished athletes in Saint Francis history. One of only six Red Flash student-athletes to earn All-American status, Varee is also the program's only four-time All-EIVA selection, earning First-Team and Second-Team honors twice each.
Varee's name is found at or near the top of nearly every major statistical category in the school's record book. He ranks as the school's career leader in kills (1,864), attempts (3,879), and aces (145), and is the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association's (EIVA) leader in career kills in the rally-scoring era (since 2001). He also ranks second in Saint Francis history in career digs (661), fourth in career hitting percentage (.291), and sixth in career blocks (297) in the rally-scoring era. Varee also holds the single game record for kills in a game with 33.
In 2011, Varee accepted an invitation to join the United States Men's Volleyball Team as part of their Winter Training group, and became part of USA Volleyball's developmental team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Varee practiced with the Winter Training group and scrimmaged against the USA Men's Volleyball team that competed in the 2012 Olympics in London.
