Mary Kate Williams-Lynch, a 2006 graduate of Saint Francis University and 2013-14 Northeast Conference Coach of the Year, enters her fifth season at the helm of the the Red Flash women’s golf program in 2016-17.
In 2015-16, Williams-Lynch coached Taylar Jaramillo to an NEC 1st-Team season for the third-straight season after the senior finished sixth overall at the NEC Championships. Williams-Lynch led the Red Flash to four top-five finishes in 2015-16 including a fourth-place finish at the NEC Championships.Â
During the 2014-15 campaign, Williams’ coached arguably the best golfer in the Northeast Conference in junior Taylar Jaramillo. The Belen, N.M. native earned All-NEC First Team honors and was recognized by the league as Golfer of the Week or Month four separate times. SFU earned a win in its own Red Flash Invitational and Jaramillo earned three medalist honors throughout the season capped off by a second overall finish at the NEC Championship. Mallory Cortis also earned All-NEC Second Team honors for the Flash.
Under Williams' guidance in 2013-14, the Red Flash earned its best finish in the Northeast Conference Championship since the 2007 season as it earned second place overall. She saw three of her student-athletes earn postseason accolades from the NEC, including two All-NEC First Team members in Ann Colligan and Taylar Jaramillo. Mallory Cortis also picked up All-NEC Second Team honors for her efforts during the season.
Williams' squad finished fifth in the Northeast Conference Championship in 2012-13, the first season under her watch. Williams saw two of her student-athletes earn spots on the All-NEC teams as Ann Colligan was tabbed on the All-NEC first team, while rookie Taylar Jaramillo earned a place on the All-NEC second team. Colligan was also named the NEC Scholar Athlete for women's golf in 2012-13.Â
A four-year student-athlete at SFU, Williams is the first full-time coach in program history and also serves as the first assistant professional at the Immergrün Golf Club.
Williams began the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach women’s golf coach at Lehigh University but took over the program’s day-to-day operations in January after the resignation of the program’s head coach. During her short time at the helm, she led the Mountain Hawks to their second-ever tournament win at Detroit Mercy's Sunshine Classic in Orlando, Fla.
She also served as the Program Director and Lead Coach for The First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean Counties for one year. The organization strives to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
Williams began her career as an assistant golf professional in 2006, first at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic, N.J., before moving on to the Bedens Brook Club in Skillman, N.J. from 2009 to 2011.
A New Jersey native, Williams was the first female member of the Immaculata High School golf team, before going on to play collegiately at Saint Francis. Williams served as team captain as a junior and senior and played an integral role as the Red Flash qualified for the NCAA Regionals in three of her four seasons. She earned All-NEC honors in 2004 and helped the Red Flash to three conference titles during her first stint in Loretto.
Williams earned her B.S. in Sociology from Saint Francis in 2006 and earned her Master's from Saint Francis in human resource management. In addition to her teaching and coaching, she has remained active on the course competing in a number of mini tour and professional events. Williams finished second in the Sky View Assistant’s event in 2009 and was runner-up in the 2010 New Jersey Assistant Spring Championship.
Mary Kate Williams-Lynch is married to Ryan Lynch, an athletic trainer at Saint Francis and they reside in Ebensburg.Â
