Alecia McNiff begins her fifth season as an SFU assistant in 2018 following a standout playing career with the Red Flash.
The Red Flash have won back-to-back NEC Titles in 2016 and 2017 under McNiff's guidance.
Since joining head coach Brenda van Stralen's staff at the start of the 2014 season, Saint Francis has produced two NEC Offensive Player of the Years and Golden Boot Winners, one NEC Midfielder of the Year, 18 all-conference players and nine All-Rookie selections. McNiff was on staff in 2016 when van Stralen claimed her fifth NEC Coach of the Year.
McNiff was a three-time Northeast Conference Defender of the Year during her four-year career in Loretto and became the first NEC player to win multiple Defender of the Year honors in a career. McNiff served as captain for her 2013 senior season and helped anchor a backline that recorded 34 clean sheets during her four-year career. McNiff also was part of two NEC Championship squads, helping the Red Flash win the 2010 and 2013 NEC tournaments.
She was also named an All-Region defender each of her last three seasons in Loretto. McNiff also excelled in the classroom, earning Scholar All-America distinction from the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America after her junior and senior seasons.
A graduate of the exercise physiology program at Saint Francis, McNiff hails from Marietta, Pa. She resides in Ebensburg.
