Ellie Davis became the 10th head coach of the Saint Francis women’s soccer program in 2019 and completed her second year in 2020-21.
Although the team trained and played exhibition matches, the 2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In her first season at the helm, Davis led the Red Flash to a 6-4 Northeast Conference record. Alyssa McGhee (SFU ’20) earned the NEC Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Davis continued to focus on student-athlete development, both on the field and in the classroom. Women’s soccer was among six Saint Francis University Intercollegiate Athletic programs to earn the NCAA APR Public Recognition Award. The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports programs nationally. In the last two years, the team achieved its highest GPA on record three times, with the highest earned in the spring of 2021 with a 3.706.
Before coming to Saint Francis, Davis was an assistant coach at Sam Houston State. She increased the program’s win total by 250% between the 2016 and 2017 season and helped the team maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA over two seasons. She also spent time as an assistant coach at James Madison, Saint Bonaventure and Indiana University.
Davis’s coaching experience isn’t limited to the collegiate game. She has experience at the youth level, coaching multiple teams and age groups at Tophat Soccer Club and GSA in Atlanta GA and as a regional ODP staff coach with the East Region. She also coached in the W-League for the Atlanta Silverbacks.
A graduate of Clemson University, Davis played for the Mile High Mustangs, Jacksonville Jade and New Jersey Wildcats of the W-League after graduating.
She holds a United States Soccer Federation National B License and a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma.
