Deion Burks was named the assistant women's volleyball coach in summer of 2017 in advance of the 2017 season.
Burks comes to Saint Francis from Syracuse University where he served as a volunteer assistant coach for the women's volleyball program and head coach for the men's club volleyball team. Burks replaces Colton Reinholtz who left to return to Western State Colorado as associate head coach.
Burks helped the Orange to a 23-8 record in 2015 and helped Syracuse lead the Atlantic Coast Conference in blocks per set. He also served as a player-coach for one season on the club men's team and head coach for two additional seasons. He guided the Orange to a 5th-place and 3rd-place finish at Nationals in 2015 and 2016 and was named honorable mention All-America in 2015.
He owns a bachelor's degree in biology from Wisconsin-Whitewater where he served as a student-assistant coach for the women's volleyball team and a player-coach for the club men's volleyball team. Burks also earned a Master's degree in biology from Syracuse.
A native of Racine, Wisconsin, Burks now resides in Ebensburg.
