NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Oct. 19, 2007) – For the second time in three matches Saint Francis freshman Patrick Fleming (Dunedin, New Zealand/Bayfield) scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0, Northeast Conference contest. With Friday's victory over Central Connecticut State, the Red Flash improve to 6-6-1 overall and remain on top of the league standings with a 4-1 NEC record.
The triumph moves the Flash to within two wins of the program record for conference wins in a season with five intra-conference games remaining on the schedule. The current record of six was set in 2004 and matched last season.
Fleming's game-winner came in the 85th minute of play as the result of rebound of a shot fired by senior Andrew Stephens (Coppell, TX/Coppell) (Coppell, Texas/Coppell).
The Flash and Blue Devils each recorded an even 10 shots, with senior Jarron Brooks (Mitchellville, Md/Archbrishop ) (Mitchellville, Md./Archbishop Carroll) and freshman Tyler Hibbs (St. Catherine, Canada/Governor Simcoe) leading the SFU charge with three apiece.
Junior goalkeeper Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) (San Lorenzo, Calif./Arroyo) made three stops on the afternoon.
Saint Francis returns to action on Sunday when they visit Quinnipiac for a 1 p.m. match.
