Saint Francis Improves to 4-1 in NEC with win over CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Oct. 19, 2007) – For the second time in three matches Saint Francis freshman Patrick Fleming  (Dunedin, New Zealand/Bayfield) scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0, Northeast Conference contest.  With Friday's victory over Central Connecticut State, the Red Flash improve to 6-6-1 overall and remain on top of the league standings with a 4-1 NEC record.

The triumph moves the Flash to within two wins of the program record for conference wins in a season with five intra-conference games remaining on the schedule.  The current record of six was set in 2004 and matched last season.

Fleming's game-winner came in the 85th minute of play as the result of rebound of a shot fired by senior Andrew Stephens (Coppell, TX/Coppell) (Coppell, Texas/Coppell).

The Flash and Blue Devils each recorded an even 10 shots, with senior Jarron Brooks (Mitchellville, Md/Archbrishop ) (Mitchellville, Md./Archbishop Carroll) and freshman Tyler Hibbs (St. Catherine, Canada/Governor Simcoe) leading the SFU charge with three apiece.

Junior goalkeeper Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) (San Lorenzo, Calif./Arroyo) made three stops on the afternoon.

Saint Francis returns to action on Sunday when they visit Quinnipiac for a 1 p.m. match.
