HANOVER, N.H. (Sept. 21, 2007) – Junior goalkeeper Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) (San Lorenzo, Calif. / Arroyo) stopped five shots and senior defender Jarron Brooks (Mitchellville, Md/Archbrishop ) (Mitchellville, Md. / Archbishop Carroll) scored his first goal of the season to help spark the Saint Francis men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Yale on Friday afternoon at the Dartmouth Tournament.
The Red Flash also got a goal from sophomore Daniel Moir (Christchurch, New Zealand/Shirley Boys) (Christchurch, New Zealand / Shirley Boys) to put the match on ice and snap a two-match skid. They improved to 2-4 on the season, and will try to keep the momentum when they play tournament-host Dartmouth beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Brooks scored his second career game-winner off a breakaway just 9 minutes, 40 seconds into the contest. Junior midfielder Andrew Stephens (Coppell, TX/Coppell) (Coppell, Texas / Coppell) hit Brooks with a perfect pass, and Brooks was able to hit the far post before the ball ricocheted into the goal.
Moir came up with his first career goal at 54:01 to give SFU a 2-0 cushion. He hit his shot off his left foot from 35 yards out into the upper right corner.
Yale outshot the Red Flash 12-7 in the match and had 10 corner kicks against just three, but the SFU defense held its ground in earning head coach Michael Casper his second career victory.
