Flash Men’s Soccer Fights Duquesne To Scoreless Tie

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2007) – Junior goalkeeper Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) (San Lorenzo, Calif. / Arroyo) stopped three shots to lead the Saint Francis men's soccer team to a double overtime scoreless tie with in-state non-conference rival Duquesne on Wednesday afternoon at the Stokes Soccer Complex.

Williams' best save came with 1 minute, 12 seconds remaining in the second overtime. The Dukes' Pat Flinn found the ball at his feet inside the 6-yard box and rifled a shot that Williams made a diving stop on. The Red Flash countered with an attack of their own, but were never able to get a shot off before the final whistle.

Saint Francis moved its record to 2-5-1 on the season, while Duquesne is now 2-3-3. The Red Flash will have a nine day regrouping period before returning to action with their Northeast Conference opener against St. Francis-NY on Oct. 5, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

In just over two seasons between the pipes, Williams now has 10 career shutouts, moving him into sole possession of second place on Saint Francis' all-time list. He is five shutouts shy of tying former teammate Bobby Pipech for the school record.

The Red Flash held a slip 8-6 advantage in shots, and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. However, the Dukes had three shots against just one in the two overtime periods.
