Red Flash Volleyball Downs Quinnipiac in Season Finale

LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 16, 2008) – Senior Kayla Greenwalt (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) (Colorado Springs, Colo./Widefield) had 5 blocks and 7 kills on .583 hitting as the Saint Francis women's volleyball team defeated the Quinnipiac Bobcats 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at DeGol Arena in their final game of the regular season.

The Red Flash, who clinched a berth in the Northeast Conference tournament, honored seniors Greenwalt, Kristin Buter (Bowie, MD/Bowie) (Bowie, Md./Bowie), Keshia Gibbs (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park) (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park), Sarah Dougherty (Derwood, MD/Magruder) (Derwood, Md./Magruder) and Lindsay Fox (Meadville, Pa./Cochranton) prior to the match for their hard work and dedication the program for the past four years.

Rikki Myers (Noblesville, IN/Westfield) (Noblesville, Ind./Westfield) led all players with 47 assists in the 4 sets, while Greenwalt chipped in with 3. Kayla Lawler led the Bobcats with 34 assists.

Outside hitter Rachel Capizzi (Saint Louis, Mo./Mehlville) (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) had 3 service aces for the Red Flash.  Lawler and Stephanie Biediger each had a service ace for the Bobcats.

Buter led Saint Francis with 18 kills and .231 hitting. She also had a team-leading 13 digs for the Red Flash, while Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) added 6 and Dougherty had 4.

Miller finished the match with 13 kills on .143 hitting, with one service ace and 3 blocks. Gibbs led the team in blocks, collecting 8 throughout the 4 sets.

Saint Francis, who currently sits in fourth place in the NEC, will travel to the NEC tournament at Robert Morris on November 22.
