FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Nov. 8, 2008) - Senior Kristin Buter (Bowie, MD/Bowie) (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) had 12 kills and hit .308, while junior Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) (Fairless Hills, Pa. / Pennsbury) had 7 kills and 16 digs to help the Saint Francis University women's volleyball team take a 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13) decision over host Sacred Heart in a Northeast Conference match on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers made 26 errors on their serves, while collecting just six aces. Nine of those errors came in game two, a 25-20 loss for the Pioneers.
Buter moved into second place on the Red Flash all-time kills list. She passed Nichole Hyer (1,340 career kills) and now sits second with 1,342, 53 shy of Anne Roosevelt's school record.
Saint Francis improved to 9-18 overall, and 3-2 in the Northeast Conference with the win. The Red Flash will return to action 1 p.m. Sunday at Fairleigh Dickinson.
Brittany Best led the SHU attack with 19 kills, while Maile Hetherington added 18 and freshman Ashlyn Trimble had 14.
