Motazed Leads Red Flash To Tie Against In-State Rival Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Sept. 6, 2008) – Sophomore Darius Motazed (North Vancouver, Canada/Sentinel Secondary) (North Vancouver, Canada / Sentinel Secondary) made his first career start and came away with his first career shutout after making eight saves in a scoreless tie against in-state non-conference rival Duquesne on Saturday night.

 The Red Flash were outshot 19-10 in the contest, but came away with a tie against a Dukes team that is 1-0-3 with ties against Big East foes West Virginia and Pittsburgh. The Mountaineers were ranked 15th in the nation at the time they played Duquesne.

 Saint Francis moved its record to 0-2-1 on the season, and will look for its first win of the year at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night when head coach Michael Casper takes his squad to University Park for a battle against Big Ten power Penn State.

 Duquesne goalkeeper Chris Torres stopped all three shots that came his direction.

 A pair of Red Flash freshmen accounted for the three shots on goal. Midfielder David Butler (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) (Baltimore, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) had two shots on goal, and midfielder Taylor Powers (Petaluma, Calif./Casa Grande) (Petaluma, Calif. / Casa Grande) recorded the other.
