Late Goal Propels Mount St. Mary’s Past Red Flash Men’s Soccer Team

EMMITSBURG, Md. (Oct. 23, 2009) – Junior goalkeeper Darius Motazed (North Vancouver, Canada/Sentinel Secondary) (North Vancouver, Canada / Sentinel Secondary) stopped eight shots, but the Saint Francis men's soccer team allowed a late goal in a frustrating 1-0 loss at Mount St. Mary's on Friday afternoon.

The Red Flash had six shots, including two on goal, but weren't able to solve the Mount's defense. SFU fell to 5-10-1 overall, and 1-5-1 in the Northeast Conference. The Red Flash will play host to seventh-ranked Monmouth at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Chris Wheeler scored his fifth goal of the season at 78 minutes, 14 seconds to lead Mount St. Mary's to the win, and a 3-3 record in the NEC. Steve Pathroff assisted on the play.

Mount St. Mary's held a 19-6 advantage in shots, while corner kicks were even at 2-2.
