Robert Morris Hands Red Flash Non-Conference Softball Loss

BALTIMORE, Md. – Robert Morris used a four-run second inning and the pitching of Annie Dubovec to hand the Saint Francis softball team a tough 8-0, five inning, non-conference loss on Sunday at the UMBC Spring Classic.

The Colonials scored four in the second inning, three more in the fourth inning, and then scored one in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the mercy rule in effect.

The Red Flash dropped to 12-15 on the season, and will now play its first home game of the season after playing the first 27 games on the road. SFU will play host to Niagara in a non-conference tune-up for Northeast Conference play, beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Seniors Kelly Slingwine (Gibsonia, PA /Pine Richland) (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) and Kara Stroup (Valencia, PA /Mars) (Valencia, Pa. / Mars) had the only two hits for Saint Francis, both singles.

Dubovec pitched 5.0 innings of scoreless ball. She allowed just two hits and struck out two.
